Choosing a wedding photographer is an overwhelming task – one that I have not yet had to do, but am very familiar with. There are so many photographers to choose from… where do you even start?! Hopefully after reading this post, you’ll have a better idea of what you are looking for in a photographer.
1. Do we click?
There is no one right photographer for everyone. You will be spending your whole wedding day with your photographer. They will usually be there when you are getting ready, when you are sharing a quiet, intimate moment with your spouse to be, and when you are celebrating with your closest friends and family. You’ll want someone you click with and enjoy spending time with. Someone who will make you feel comfortable and relaxed.
2. Do I like their style?
Many people don’t know what kind of style they like, but this is an important thing to determine if you want to be happy with your photos.
3. Are they within our budget?
Decide how important photography is to you in relation to other aspects of your wedding. If having quality images is a top priority to you, you will have to take into consideration how much you are willing to spend. Most photographers offer multiple packages, so it’s a great idea to meet with the ones whose photography you like to discuss your options and what will best suit what you are looking for.
These are (in my opinion) the top criteria in choosing a photographer, but there are many other things to look for as well. I put together a post on questions to ask a photographer at a consultation.
