Dugasa and Esther got married on Esther’s parent’s yard – where she grew up. Backyard weddings are always a favourite of mine to photograph. It was a small wedding with mostly family, but it was such a joyful, beautiful day with perfect weather. Sadly due to Covid, Dugasa’s family was not able to come out from Ethiopia for the wedding, but fortunately technology made it possible for them to watch the ceremony live.
After taking some photos at Esther’s family’s property, we headed to their neighbours – Kismet Creek Farm – to take some photos with some of the animals. I so wish I had video of that. The goats and llamas were very attracted to the bouquets and wanted to eat them.
Also, how many brides these days can say their mom sewed their wedding dress? Esther’s mom is a talented seamstress and worked hard sewing the wedding gown and all the flower girl dresses in a very short amount of time.
