Trying so hard not to be discouraged about the new Trying so hard not to be discouraged about the new restrictions they announced today.
I’m sad about what it could mean for my own wedding and I’m sad for my clients.

I’ve had some couples who’ve had to postpone multiple times. Some who went through with it who didn’t even get to have all their immediate family there. And some who’ve been so frustrated with the whole thing and just canceled their celebration altogether.

For the past year, I’ve been encouraging my clients that they will still have a great day regardless and they will still be marrying the love of their life. I’ve tried to remain positive about my own wedding but I’m having a hard time taking my own counsel. Weddings are supposed to be a time of celebrating... but it’s really hard to celebrate when all you feel is loss, sadness and stress.

Mine and JJ’s dream wedding would be to have 150-200 guests where we could celebrate with all the people who are a part of our lives. We’ve slowly accepted more and more losses... we knew when we got engaged we wouldn’t be able to have more than 100. Now our hope of having 50 (which we feel cuts out SO many important people) seems unrealistic.

I knew when we started thinking of guest lists, it was not a possibility for my friends around the world to come... friends I grew up with in Kenya who are a huge part of who I am. And I knew my American friends from Bible school would not be able to come including one of my besties. With quarantine laws, we knew most of JJ’s family and friends in Saskatchewan would not be able to attend. But the possibility of borders closing preventing his parents and my sister from coming is heartbreaking.

I miss photographing weddings with @reanneberard. I miss photographing weddings with @reanneberard. This photo was taken at a wedding I second shot for her last summer. It was my inspiration in choosing a venue for my own wedding this summer.
I love photographing wedding details. Whether it’s jewellery, flowers, centrepieces, or anything else. If you hire me to photograph your wedding, I will be sure to capture all those little details you put so much effort into deciding on. Whether you’re a DIY bride who has put lots of time and effort into creating handmade wedding favours or a bride who has spent time carefully planning your table settings with gold chargers, matching utensils, and gorgeous dishes. Your guests likely won’t remember those details, but I will make sure you have photos to document the things you put time and money into.
